Uma Shankar, an acclaimed sitar player of the present generation will be delighting music lovers with an evening of sitar performance. Hailing from the Senia Gharana, a disciple of the world renowned Sitar Maestro, Padma Bushan Pandit Debu Chaudhuri, and Shri Ashish Chatterjee of Patna, he will be showcasing his impeccable techniques with profound aesthetic interpretations of Hindustani Classical Music on the sitar. With his innovative ideas, and also being a composer, Uma Shankar received rave reviews after he explored and experimented successfully with Fusion Concerts, World and Crossover Music, and Jugalbandi (duet) Concerts in India and abroad.
Vick Ramakrishnan, our very own Malaysian pride and talent on the tabla, hailing from the Purab Gharana and a disciple of the late Ustad Hanif Mohamed Mirajikar in Pune and currently under the guidance of Pandit Kumar Bose, Vick will be accompanying Uma Shankar, showcasing the intricacies of the beats of the tabla. A Masters Degree holder in Performing Arts, and an all-rounded musician of our times, Vick has accompanied great music talents such as Ustad Usman Khan, Pandit Briju Maharaj, and Dr. L Subramaniam. He has also played for Akasha Malaysia, one of the finest world fusion music bands of the country.Buy Tickets
